Every student aims to raise at least $100 in sponsorships for the walkathon.

The Walkathon ensures participant safety by requiring Safe Environment Certification for volunteers, providing staff along the route for assistance, having medical personnel on standby, and emphasizing hydration, comfortable attire, and following the designated route for an enjoyable experience.

COLOR POWDER SAFETY FAQS
For the safety of all participants, a color guard ceremony will take place at the beginning of the walk. Those involved in the color guard, including students and volunteers, will not be exposed to any color powder.
The color guard ceremony serves as a beautiful tribute to our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all attendees. By taking part in the color guard, students and volunteers can demonstrate their dedication to hosting a secure and enjoyable event for everyone.
We encourage parents interested in having their child join the color guard to use the link to register them for this significant role. Your child's participation will not only enhance the solemnity of the ceremony but also contribute to creating a memorable experience for all.

WILL MY STUDENT GET DIRTY?
YES....YOUR STUDENT WILL BE “COLORFUL”. STUDENTS WILL BE SPRINKLED WITH
COLOR THROUGHOUT THE WALK. EXPECT FOR THEM TO BE COLORFUL AT PICK-UP.
OUR ADVICE IS TO BRING A BEACH TOWEL WITH YOU FOR PICK-UP.
WHAT WILL STUDENTS WEAR AT THE WALKATHON?
ALL STUDENTS RECEIVE A WALKATHON T-SHIRT. THIS IS A GRUB DAY (NO
UNIFORMS). KIDS CAN WEAR APPROPRIATE LENGTH SHORTS AND TENNIS SHOES
WHICH WILL GET COLORFUL.
DOES THE COLOR STAIN?
THE COLOR POWDER WASHES OUT OF MOST CLOTHING. YOUR KIDS WILL DEFINITELY
NEED A GOOD SHOWER WHEN THEY GET HOME. HOWEVER, IT CAN STAIN SOME
MATERIALS. 100% COTTON CLOTHING IS RECOMMENDED
AND TYPICAL MACHINE WASHING WITH STAIN REMOVER, REMOVES THE STAINS.
WE RECOMMEND REMOVING EXCESS POWDER FROM CLOTHING BEFORE WASHING
AND/OR APPLYING WATER.
WHAT IS THE COLOR GUARD?
ANY STUDENT WHO WISHES NOT TO BE SPRINKLED WITH COLOR HAS THE
OPPORTUNITY TO WALK IN OUR SPECIAL COLOR GUARD. THIS WILL BE THE GROUP
WHICH LEADS THE FIRST ROUND OF THE WALK, AND THEY WILL NOT GET ANY COLOR
ON THEM. PLEASE CONTACT WALKATHON@STWENCESLAUS.ORG TO REQUEST FOR
YOUR STUDENT TO BE PLACED IN THE COLOR GUARD.
